Hi,
I have installed a fan to my van 3 way 90 litre fridge. The fan does not seem to cut in early enough, despite quite a lot of hot air coming out of the vent. I believe the switching sensor from JayCar is set at 70 degrees. I am wondering if members have a similar concern, and perhaps have settled on a lower setting. What might be even better, is one that I can adjust to suit my installation ?? Any ideas ??
Thank you for your feedback, Barry

What sort of switch are you using....just a little bi-metalc switch?
70 degrees is fairly warm...you could go for a lower temperture switch.
OR
jaycar sell an automotive kit that allows very accurate temperature switching, if you are able to do electronic assembly.
I think they also sell an off the shelf ready built thermostat....not sure of the temp rangs thought.
cheers

The hot air may not be coming from the condenser that you want to cool, 3 way fridges work by generating heat inside a furnace either by a flame when on gas or a heating element when on 12 or 240v.
3 way fridges struggle on temps above 32 deg C

I have installed two fans, with the thermostat attached to the top of the condenser fins.
I have found that the fans only turn off, when controlled by the thermostat, at night. As pointed out above, the heat buildup over 32'C causes this. However, I feel that the fans taking the hot air out help the fridge to work better anyway.
I will try to paste a doc to show you how I did it.
